The Automobile Club of Southern California has released a new guide that helps consumers shop for the most environmentally friendly cars. Green has been a growing trend in what buyers look for when shopping for cars. While “Hybrid” has been the buzz-word in the last few years, other non-hybrid model also offer extremely clean emissions and high MPG. The guide evaluates a wide range of vehicles on a variety of metrics ranging from emissions and fuel economy to handling, ride quality, and crashworthiness.
While AAA named the Toyota Highlander Hybrid the top-scoring green car, the Scion xD was named the ‘Best Green Car Value’, which factors in the cost of the vehicle in addition to the other evaluation metrics.
