Our series of features on the winners of the Scion Motivate program is wrapping up today, with a look at Peter K. of Rock Out Magazine and Roseli I. of Loom. Peter K. is the brains behind Rock Out Magazine, a hugely popular online magazine that serves as a source of reviews, media, and news from the music industry. As the founder of Loom, Roseli I. produces a line of artisan-crafted luxury handbags through partnerships with women from around the world. The effort they’ve put into their businesses impressed each of Scion Motivate judges, and we can’t wait to see how they use career mentorship, $10,000, and a new Scion to help grow their businesses.

 

Peter K. – Rock Out Magazine

Peter K. is the Founder of RockOutMagazine, an online music news source covering all aspects of the music industry. He’s been involved in Chicago as a music promoter since 1999, works as a publicist for entertainment clients from across the globe and is a social media expert, growing R.O.M.’s fan base to thousands of users. Peter graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business Management. He is regarded as one of the top punk rock DJ’s in the country and is avid concert goer. In his free time he enjoys photography, skateboarding, fishing, films, and technology.

Roseli I. – Loom

Roseli I. is a social entrepreneur and the founder of LOOM, a line of artisan-crafted luxury handbags made of recycled leather and organic textiles. Building off her passion for style and decade of experience as a writer, educator and developer of marketing campaigns for social justice and human rights, she decided to partner with women artisans from around the globe to blend indigenous weaving techniques with modern design for an international fashion audience. Her travels and collaborations have taken her from the valleys of Oaxaca to the lush terraces of the Philippine Cordillera, but she remains rooted in Oakland, California.
