DON “THE NUGE” NGUYEN AND VOL 4 PRESENT “LIVE HEAVY TRAVEL LIGHT” AT SCION A/V INSTALLATION

Scion A/V, the creative enterprise of Scion devoted to the discovery, nurture, funding and distribution of compelling music and arts programming, has teamed up with Baker-sponsored pro skater Don Nguyen aka “Nuge” to headline its highly anticipated skateboard inspired music and travel show at the Scion A/V Installation in Los Angeles. The experiential retail gallery will officially launch on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 7PM-10PM.

“The Scion A/V Installation series is a catalyst for creative thinkers amidst a broad cultural spectrum to unite. We’re happy to spotlight a cult influencer such as Nuge, who transcends skate, music, travel and design, to be a part of our unique program,” shares Jeri Yoshizu, Scion Sales Promotions Manager.

Nguyen (pronounced “win”) grew up skating in Oklahoma City, but it’s his love of camping that solidified the aptly themed, “Live Heavy, Travel Light,” exhibition that will feature limited items including: Volume 4-branded collapsible shovels, carabiners and canteens in addition to five limited edition Vol 4 Wolf Blankets and six handmade cigar box guitars (Vol 4 “Ciguitars”). Custom made Vol 4 designs will retail between $5.00 and $300.00 with 100% of proceeds going to the artist.

“I’ve always wanted to make a cigar box guitar. So, my friend J-Roy and I got all the parts together and started shaping necks and fretting guitars for the first time. We’re going to make them electric so they sound awesome,” states Nguyen.

The Scion A/V Installation merges Scion product and lifestyle for the first time by offering consumers the opportunity to test-drive vehicles from the space itself. The gallery will feature a revolving roster of artists showing their work in the space and retailing any product they have created, with the next installment featuring original works by the internationally renowned Parisian pen-and-paper artist, Yue Wu, on September 7, 2013.
