Earlier this year, we headed out to Muscle Beach in Santa Monica, CA to put together a photoshoot featuring all five of our Scion models. We think the photos, which should be appearing in banners and other materials at your local scion dealer soon, showcase some of the best angles of the cars while they’re about town.
The shoot started early in the day, with the 2014 Scion tC and Scion FR-S sitting in the parking lot, awaiting their turn in front of the camera. One of the most challenging parts of any photo shoot is keeping the cars spotless, something made even more difficult by the ocean side setting.
Our friends from Seoul Sausage were also out to take part in the shoot, and luckily for us, they brought along some of their famous sausages to provide lunch as well.
In addition to their traditional food truck, the Seoul Sausage Scion xB was also at the shoot, ready to cook up lunch for the cast and crew on our makeshift set.
If you’ve been out to the Seoul Sausage restaurant, you may have seen their custom designed Scion xB before. Built by Mike Vu’s team at MV Designz, the Seoul Sausage Scion xB has been modified from the ground up with an air suspension, a full audio/visual overhaul, a matte black wrap, and a slide out grill from the car’s trunk.
While we were checking out the Seoul Sausage xB, the original showed up on site to begin its first round of shooting on set.
The Scion xB was soon followed by the tC and FR-S, both of which took their respective places on deck as we waited for photography of the cars to begin.
With a full day of shooting scheduled in, the photography team got to work getting the cars on film immediately after their arrival.
Our cast climbed into the Scion xB, while Yong from Seoul Sausage got ready to hop in the driver’s seat to take part. Chris, who is Seoul Sausage’s executive chef, stood off to the side looking on.
While that was going on, the Scion tC and FR-S were moved into position, and props were set up alongside of them to give the setting a natural feel.
Photography for the two sports coupes commenced, with our cast positioning themselves alongside the cars. Passersby would occasionally stop to get a closer look at the cars, and perhaps to try and sneak themselves into one of the shots.
All said, we think the final shots came out great, and we hope you will too when you see them in dealerships and in other Scion materials. For more exclusive behind the scenes coverage of Scion events, be sure to follow us on Instagram at the link below!
