Pretty annoyed after my visit to a Scion dealer today. For a no hassle/haggle experience it was pretty filled with some hassle. The dealer didn’t know about the Lease promo or the college grad rebate.

To make matters worse they didn’t have any base models in stock tried to upsell me to the release edition. Then when I was firm on the $230/mo with no money down (due to the rebate) they came back and said the best they could get was a manual with an upgraded radio for “in the $250-259/mo range” with no specifics until it came in and I was ready to sign the paperwork. Then when asked about an automatic transmission, they stated it was going to be an an extra $20/mo for an automatic transmission (aka $270-279/mo).

I’m glad I came online tonight and read more about the promo. You have one very annoyed customer right now who has placed a $200 deposit while his ‘more expensive than it should be’ car is ordered. I expected more from a saleswoman working for toyota for 20 years and a new Scion/Toyota Dealer in the area.

Looks great! But I really hope you offer the leather/suede seats and HID headlights as options. I’m confident the fog lights and spoiler (which I don’t want) will be optional but I’m hoping the underbody panels and limited slip differential are standard. I like the styling of this car more than the Subaru BRZ but the BRZ is likely going to have all the luxuries and options…

Personally, I must go with Tuner B. Tuner B, the “iq RX”, seems to be the athlete of the group because although the others boast engine mods as well, the rx (tuner B)’s also has significant suspension modifications. This is important because let’s face it, these cars are going to be doing autocross and such, not just straight-line drag racing. As far as the interiors, Tuner A and Tuner C are both lacking. This is SEMA, not the racetrack, so despite the performance implications, Tuner B(the rx) was very right by throwing in an over the top 32″ 3D tv, an xbox and the ipad2. I honestly don’t think there is any competition here.. Tuner B for the definitive win!

I wasn’t to happy on what happened to me that day, we went to go get our tickets, we bought the toys, paid for parking got our wristbands and asked three different people that worked there about the tickets, 2 of them didn’t really know and the 3rd said we could get them when we came back to the event that night!! Guess what we weren’t allowed to go in after dishing out the money because we should have gotten our tickets at the front and no one we asked had the correct info, Knott’s employee said it was Scion’s fault and we couldn’t get reimbursed!! I didn’t mind buying the toy’s, but someone should have had the correct info that day. I’m going to see on Facebook if anyone else had that problem!!

Not getting something because you don’t want to be labelled as something you think you’re not is akin to the hipster mentality anyway.

You’re somehow making the ridiculous suggestion that liking a certain brand is hipster on the mere premise that Scion’s target market happens to have an urban outlook. Any self-respecting hipster who’s “too cool for school” understands this method of target marketing and zealously rejects it because they’re too cool to be labelled. Congratulations ScionSupra, you’re a hipster.

I will explain to you the hipster dichotomy in two easy steps:

1.) The hipster that doesn’t want to be targeted as a market, will outright refuse to identify with what “they” think is “cool” or “hip” because of what the adverts claim. This is you.

2.) The hipster that identifies with being marketed to as a result of a shift in culture and understanding, which is not necessarily uncool, but in no way definitive of being a part of the “cool” generation. This is the sort of person who, in your eyes, buy into Scion. There are others who buy into Urban Outfitters or American Apparel who are not unlike this.

-This is just hipsters calling out other hipsters, or in a different universe: Trolls trolling trolls. Get over it.

If you’re going to put a product down due to their name and target audience, then you’re not really appreciating the product or engineering. By that measure, you’re not even appreciating the legacy, and as Toyota’s child company, Scion should just be seen as a Toyota in sheep’s slightly more updated clothing.

This car is so awesome! I won’t buy one though for the sole reason it will be marketed as a Scion. I don’t want to be thought of as a “hipster.” Which are people who overtly claim to be “different” and “unique” but accomplish the opposite. I have nothing wrong with “hipsters” but I don’t want to be thought as one, therefore I won’t buy a Scion. Look at other forums, there are others with the same complaint, so much so the topic of this car labeled a Scion has gotten old and annoying. True, who cares about what others think, image is superficial unless its going to cost 20k or more. and no i wont switch badges cause thats just posing.
