DJ Kutmah (pronounced koot-mah) is a Los Angeles artist and sampling musician. He started the legendary club, "Sketchbook", in Los Angeles. Every Tuesday for three years his all night club was the place to be if you wanted to hear the freshest experimental beats. Covering the club's walls with his art and having drawing books around for others to contribute, Sketchbook combined both art and music. Kutmah's idea behind Sketchbook was, "I just wanted a place for people to connect without talking". Kutmah put out his first 10" record of raw sounds and beats in 2007 on the legendary Pasadena label, Poo-Bah Records. He has played with Sonic Youth, Dabrye, TV on the Radio, Mr. Oizo , Daedelus, Prefuse 73, Diamond D , Devendra Banhart, WaaJeed, Madlib, MF DOOM, Animal Collective, Yoko Ono, and Black Dice to name a few. Recently Kutmah had to jump out the window of his burning house which destroyed all his art, sketchbooks, dj equipment, samplers, and over 20 crates of records. Kutmah's response, "Nothing will stop me from making noise".
