Tokyo is known for its technology, high-rises, businesses, and pop culture, yet little is known about its homeless population. Often found along Sumida River, there is a community of homeless Tokyoites who are ignored, but have a strong presence in culture. Operating on different sets of rules and boundaries as compared to the homeless around us in America, The Dwelling will follow one homeless Tokyoite and focus on his home, which often takes indie construction and ingenuity to new heights.
Baltimore native Sheldon Candis is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. His short film Sonny Listening, a coming-of-age boxing drama, which he wrote and directed, has played over 20 film festivals worldwide and is being distributed by hip hop mogul Russell Simmons through his Simmons Lathan Media Group.
