Dust La Rock, aka Joshua Prince, is a graphic designer, illustrator, and "part-time savant." He's a co-founder and Creative Director of Fool's Gold Records, serves as Art Director for renowned producer and DJ A-Trak, and has his hand in a multitude of commissioned projects at any given time, mixing the low-brow and the high-profile with a smirk and a bold, electronic brushstroke.
Hailed as a "cult NYC designer" by Dazed and Confused, La Rock's work resonates throughout street culture and the music industry. Whether emblazoned on the record sleeve of an underground club hit, passed hand to hand on a psychedelic party flyer, or splashed on the front of a limited-edition tee, his signature illustrations have become synonymous with the most exciting and innovative music and lifestyles of today.
Citing the works of Peter Blake, Ralph Bakshi, and Salvador Dali as influences, La Rock continues to develop an expressive, surreal style that is completely his own—and in the process, his work is redefining contemporary pop Americana.
Currently residing in Brooklyn, La Rock has been featured in several art, music and lifestyle publications worldwide, including Playboy, Billboard, XLR8R, Mass Appeal, Dazed and Confused, Beautiful Decay, Swindle, and Quest (Japan). Recent projects include design for the A-Trak x Nike Running Man album, identity and event branding for Red Stripe, and product development and packaging with Kid Robot, along with sleeve art and imagery for the entire Fool's Gold roster. Late 2009 will see his first solo exhibition of original works.
