TindelMichi
John Tindel and Michi are TindelMichi. Two fat southern boys that paint. We are a contemporary painting collaborative, born and raised in Alabama and now residing and working in Atlanta.
TindelMichi has avoided the monotonous monologue and aesthetic of "typical" contemporary art provided by our formal training. By applying creative prowess to ballsy concepts and a clever amalgamation of styles, design, and humor; we have transformed the mere artist collaboration into a monumental celebration of culture and tradition. As describe by Felicia Fester, "When the artists work in tandem, a punchier, more kinetic force surfaces in works that look like movie posters for some unspecified mental state. A free-range, abstract moodiness takes the place of comfortable routine."
Our canvases and conceptual installations combine street scholasticism, and wit melded with southern charm and grace. We have developed a visual vocabulary that has influences in rural culture, advertising, typography, graphic design, abstraction, folk and pop art and graffiti.
