SYNOPSIS
This sensitive coming-of-age drama, a 2006 Sundance Film Festival award winner, tells the story
of Magdalena (Emily Rios),
who, on the brink of her 15th birthday, finds her comfortable existence shattered by the discovery that she's pregnant. Cast out by her parents,
the once-privileged teen finds safe haven with a great-granduncle and a gay cousin (Jesse Garcia)
who introduce her to a world far different from her gentrified middle-class life.

Over the past few years, Richard Glatzer has established himself as an indie filmmaker while simultaneously producing some of TV's top reality hits. Glatzer's first feature film was the critically acclaimed Grief in 1994. The film broke new ground by treating the AIDS crisis with depth and unexpected humor. His television career includes MTV's The Osbournes and Road Rules,and along with Tyra Banks and Ken Mok, Glatzer created America's Next Top Model.

Wash Westmoreland has made several acclaimed documentaries, features, and TV shows. In 2000, he co-directed his first film with Glatzer, The Fluffer. In 2004, he wrote and directed a film called Gay Republicans that won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the AFI Festival. He is currently working on his next project.
