The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is one of the most prestigious races in the world, a reputation it’s gained from each one of its 155 demanding corners, and every inch of the unforgiving 4,720 ft elevation increase. Being able to successfully traverse the 12.42 mile course requires not only a considerably amount of skill on behalf of the drivers, but also a team capable of delivering when it counts the most.
As participants in 2012’s iteration of Pikes Peak, the Sparco Rally xD and GReddy Racing x Scion tC teams came together under one roof to prepare for what would come to be a demanding run up the mountain. Although both cars were prepared for the event individually, the close proximity of the teams ultimately resulted in a singular effort to ensure they each successfully reached the summit.
Part 1 of Scion Racing’s Pikes Peak 2012 series explores the dynamic between the two teams, and how their practice runs helped them brace for the race ahead.
