It’s never easy debuting a new drift car, but if Tony Angelo’s performance at Triple Crown Drift Week at Pikes Peak International Raceway is any indication, his fortunes just might be looking up. Running his TAngelo Racing Scion FR-S in the event’s professional class, Tony qualified 2nd in the event featuring over 100 drivers, and ended up earning a podium finish by sliding his way to 3rd place.
His competition in the pro class included familiar Formula Drift names including Matt Field and Brandon Wicknick, making his run even more impressive. The work that the TAngelo Racing team put into their FR-S was apparent throughout the event, as the dialed in car was hitting all the clipping points with ease, and getting to where Tony wanted it to be on the track. Some minor issues with his ignition ended up costing Tony a higher spot on the podium, but the momentum he’s gained should carry through to a strong showing early next month at Texas Motor Speedway for the 6th Round of the FD season.
