Davide Bertocchi

Davide Bertocchi was born in Modena, Italy in 1969 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and from the Post-Diplome Internationale at the Ecole de Beaux Arts of Nantes, France. He was artist in residence in the Studio Program at PS1-MoMa in New York, at the National Contemporary Art Centre Villa Arson (’02), in Nice, France and at the Pavillon, Palais de Tokyo in Paris (’03). His work was also nominated for the Dieselwall public project for Milan city center.

The artist has had numerous solo shows: at Galleria Gian Carla Zanutti in Milan (’99 & ‘01), at the The Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles (’03); at Centre Pompidou in Paris (’04); at Palais de Tokyo in Paris (’05), and at Sint-Lukas Galerie in Bruxelles (’06). He has also participated in several group exhibitions: Doel Zonder Oorzaak at W139 in Amsterdam and at the S.M.A.K. in Ghent, (’99); Trends/Milano, at Spazio Salara in Bologna (2000); One Planet Under a Groove: Hip Hop And Contemporary Art, at The Bronx Museum of The Arts in New York, Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, (’01); Nuovo Spazio Italiano at MART, Palazzo delle Albere and Galleria Civica di Trento (’02); Melting Pop, at Centro di Arte Contemporanea Palazzo delle Papesse in Siena and the PragueBiennale1 in Prague (’03); the XIV Quadriennale of Rome- in the Section "Anteprima 1" presented in Turin (’04); U_Move: utopia e immagine in movimento, at Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea of Monfalcone and Radiodays at De Appel in Amsterdam (’05).
