What’s Featured at Scion – John Pangilinan’s Tuner Challenge tC, Peter Colello’s Tuner Challenge xB, Five Axis iQ, and Monogram Series tC and FR-S

This week’s edition of What’s Featured at Scion takes us back to the 2009 and 2010 SEMA Shows with two of our Scion Tuner Challenge builds, and puts them next to a uniquely styled Scion iQ that debuted at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. Additionally, we’ve also got two of our newest and most exciting production vehicles – the Scion Monogram Series FR-S and tC.

This Scion tC was built by John Pangilinan for the 2010 Scion Tuner Challenge, and features a carbon fiber wide body kit designed by long time Scion collaborator Jon Sibal. Built around a competition car theme, the build also features custom carbon fiber mirrors and a wing from the team at APR. Wheels from Rays Engineering fill out the widened wells, while the car’s stopping power comes courtesy of a set of Brembo brakes.

The car’s factory 2AR motor remains under the hood, though it’s been augmented with both a turbo kit from WORLD Racing as well as a nitrous injection system from NOS. An upgraded Exedy clutch helps the build put its power down to the wheels, while a suite of electronics from AEM keeps everything running smoothly. Inside, Recaro seats and harnesses keep drivers planted, while steering inputs come via a Personal steering wheel.

Alongside the tC is Peter Collelo’s vibrant teal Scion xB from the 2009 Scion Tuner Challenge. The car features a completely custom 9-piece wide body kit from BRS Auto Design, to go with an huge assortment of carbon fiber parts including the hood, wing, roof, and even rear hatch from Seibon. Inside, NRG provided a number of components including seats, harnesses, and shift knob, while Pyle and Mobile Spec took care of its audio/visual.

The front mount intercooler by Mishimoto feeds fresh air into the motor, which has been boosted with a turbo from WORLD Racing, and augmented with a nitrous system from Nitrous Express. The car is suspended on an air suspension kit, with a set of wheels and tires from TIS and Falken respectively. 6-pot brakes and calipers from Wilwood give the car the braking power it needs to bring it to a stop.

This 2011 Five Axis Scion iQ might appear similar to a standard iQ at first glance, but a closer look around the car reveals some intricate details that help the car really stand out. Five:AD’s front lip, side skirts, and rear spats bring the body of the car aggressively close to the ground, and are complemented by a set of Five:AD S6:F wheels and a TRD big brake kit. The iQ’s natural ride height is also lowered, courtesy of springs by TEIN.

The cabin of the Five Axis Scion iQ is highlighted by custom upholstery completed by Little John’s Interior Concepts. The work includes seats with leather trimming, all-new door inserts, and a headliner done by Ultrasuede EcoDesign. Floor mats from Chilewich round out the interior enhancements, and complete the look of the premium Five Axis iQ.

Our new Scion Monogram Series FR-S and tC round out the lineup, though the FR-S has been modified slightly more than what you’ll find on one straight from the factory. This particular model includes the optional TRD exhaust, which you can find at the all new TRDUSA.com site.

The Monogram Series FR-S of course includes, all the normal upgrades, including the HID/LED headlamps, push start button, rear spoiler, and dual zone climate controls that make it one of the best value sports cars around.

The Scion Monogram Series tC also includes a few extra factory modifications, including a set of wheels by TRD and the optional fog light kit. This model is painted Absolutely Red, although both Monogram Series cars are available in all 7 of their standard colors.

The rear wiper on the back of the car also gives away its status as a Scion Monogram Series tC, as it’s a feature unique to the limited edition line. Likewise, the color keyed rear spoiler is another premium accessory that’s included as standard on the Monogram tC.

We’ve got another exciting lineup set for next week’s What’s Featured at Scion, so be sure to check back often!
